Hi, I’m Vincenza and welcome to Studio Vincenza

I am professionally trained as an artist and a qualified teacher working in the Arts, Education and Disability sector. I am based in Melbourne working from River Studios, a City of Melbourne Creative Spaces managed space alongside 70+ other creatives. It’s an inspiring and supportive place to be, in part because of the diverse talents under one roof and secondly, for the recognition we’re afforded as valued and vital contributors to Melbourne’s cultural, social and economic life. A far cry from my very first shop-front pottery studio that I set up in the 1980’s.

Studio Vincenza brings together the multi-dimensional threads of my creative and professional practice as: visual artist, teacher, creative producer, community engagement practitioner, and an NDIS provider of Art+Health programs and services.

My first passion is clay – the real stuff – dug from the earth, not polyclay! Playing in open paddocks of iron-rich red soils and digging up clumps of clay from creek beds still resonates. I use fine white and terracotta clays to produce Earthly Beads and Objects and sell boutique small production runs of individually handmade artisan ceramic beads and components to customers world-wide for use in their own jewellery designs. My work, particularly the distinctive Raku fired beads reflect my love of texture and the intrinsic qualities of surface and glaze.  You can purchase my work here or get in touch to arrange a visit to my West Melbourne studio.

I also offer a mobile raku firing service. The kiln is an Approved Energy-Safe (Victoria) Appliance, constructed from lightweight ceramic fibre, sits on a gas-plumbed trailer and is ready to hitch-up and take to communities across Victoria. If you’re wanting to experience the exciting processes of Raku firing for yourself or looking to provide a fun, participatory communal event for your group or event get in touch by filling out the contact form.

Lived experiences of hardship, disability and challenges inevitably altered my view of the world and my practice. The What -When-Where-How-Why is underscored by a real understanding of the positive influence art, creativity and social connection can have on neighbourhoods, communities and individuals.  La PasseggARTa founded in 2012 to advance cultural and economic participation for artists and the communities in which they work, continues to effect change and achieve sustainable outcomes through partnerships and collaborations.
